TOOLS REQUIRED:  pliers, Philips and small straight screw driver, stud locater, knife

1.        Pull rope manually all the way out from power unit as far as it will go (motor will resist pulling).

2.        Typically the power unit is mounted inside the garage on the wall about 18” above the dumpster.  If this is how you wish to install it proceed as follows (refer to drawings):  (Note: not rated for outdoor use)

a.        Put S hook on loop of end of rope and squeeze end closed around rope

b.        Locate stud in wall near center of lids edge

c.        Put S hook under edge of lid (approximately in center of the edge towards or on the front) and attach power unit to wall stud at extended rope height, with 2 or 3 screws (longer screws may be required depending on installation)

d.        Break off rear plastic channel extender on Infra-Red sensor if mounting to a flat surface like drywall as its not required.

e.        Plug in one of the shorter 4 pin wires into back of  IR sensor and rear #2 jack on power unit

f.         Attach IR sensor at a convenient height so your shoulder, elbow, or hand can activate sensor by sweeping thru sensing area approximately 6” below it

g.        Plug A/C adapter (20’ long) cord into large jack #1 on rear of power unit, attach horse shoe terminals under wall plug adapter screws and plug into 120 volt outlet

YOU ARE DONE!

Note: IR sensor does have an orange adjustable sensitivity screw on lower side.  This orange dial turns part way around and is most sensitive if adjusted fully clockwise.   Adjust as you prefer, false triggering may occur if too sensitive.  If you prefer to press a button, a typical door bell switch may be substituted for the IR sensor.  To do this, simply cut off the plug and connect the red and yellow wires (or the black and green, depends on installation, but won’t damage either way) to the door bell switch.

The I-OpenR rope extension is completely “self adjusting” and will pull in as much as allowed, all the way to the knot if not stopped, which is preferred.  The lid will stop closing whenever an object is under it sufficient to support the weight of the lid itself. waste cartr full? No problem for the lid not to fully close.  The micro processor inside the I-OpenR is constantly making corrections for best operation and as such, the motor will make slightly different sounds and speeds from time to time.  This is normal.

If the IR sensor wires are not long enough you may substitute any telephone “handset” cord to get a longer reach/mounting distance for sensor.

Other locations to mount the I-OpenR are to put it on the ceiling above the waste cart for example.  There is usually an outlet near the garage door opener if you need power close by.  We have included some extra rope if you need to extend the end of the standard I-OpenR rope as required.   The I-OpenR will last for over 1 million openings.

If the rope is accidentally cut, it is easily repaired by removing the bottom of the unit.
